    For personal projects, probably not. Corporation sponsorship, which is what you would be asking for, requires something tangible that Home Depot or Lowes will gain from their investment.

    That could be as much as a patent, or as little as free, good publicity. If you can’t give them something for their investment, you will get nothing free from them.

    But You can find some bargains on clearance. It requires that you keep checking to see what’s available. Lumber, for example.

    Home Depot does charity projects but your hovercraft does not look like it will benefit other people or give it sufficient publicity to warrant their investment. Anyways, I built a hovercraft on the cheap before, the most expensive thing you need is the blower.
