i grew up next the morongo indian reservation, we were a poor white family, there were poor indians, we traveled down the same dirt road, i had to hitchhike into town to get work, they got free govt handouts, we payed taxes on our house that we paid for, they got free land,i was born here so were they, their ancestors migrated from asia, mine migrated from scotland, why do they get all the free stuff and i dont, why couldnt they hitch hike down that same road to get work just as i did,,this was back in the 60s and 70s
actually the norse were 1st here

   Since they are the original Americans and now displaced in their own country what do you expect. Your assumption that they come from Asia is wrong

   Generally the first people to populate land are considered to be the owners. So although most of the native Americans originated in Asia they settled and the land belonged to them because no one owned it before that.

   Nearly all of that land was taken from them by force by white settlers.

   The free land given to them was theirs originally. The house your family paid tax on was on land originally stolen from them.

   I don’t really see any justification for charging them for their own land and the handouts are small compensation for the way of life that was taken from them.

   They now have to live as an ethnic minority in their own country.

   I never heard the theory of Norse people being the first native Americans. I assume you mean Scandanavians.

   Now that archeologists have started digging further than the Clovis level they have found stone tools similar to finds of the same period in France and as over 12,000 years ago there was an ice shoreline from France, Past Greenland to North Eastern Canada it is thought that there were some inhabitants from France prior to the Asians, but not Norse people.

   In any case, there is no evidence of the Asians taking the land away from the few settlers who may have come from Europe. There was apparently enough land for all so the earliest settlers were not disposessed by later ones. That only happened when the whites moved in and murdered the natives and stole their land.

   Iroquois are Haudenosaunee, People of the Longhouse, and the Six Nations. The Iroquois Indians lived in what is now New York State along the St. Lawrence River. The Iroquois Indians were know as the “Five Nations”. The league was formed before European contact. The original five nations are Cayuga, Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, and Seneca. The Tuscarora joined later, after European contact, and became the sixth nation.

   It is because you are “white” and what you don’t understand is what happened to the Native people of this land. Your poor and white because you don’t understand the system of hierachy and why you will always be poor and why you are prone to look down on other people who aren’t white and be envious because they are receiving what you perceive as “handouts”. It’s really a payoff, a half hearted compensation, because what was theirs was taken and far more valuable then what they could ever receive as a “handout”, okay? The land to the Native didn’t belong to anyone and they were willing to share it, but the “white” man wanted it all, so he slaughtered and killed them and their source of food (the buffalo) and the ones who was left were put on reservations that you call “free land”. So I suggest you do some research, check your envy and understand how this country really works and why you are “white” and not just an American.
